RUSTOL (RUST PREVENTIVE OILS)
|
DISCRETION
Rust and corrosion are factors of major economic importance costing industry and consumers abnormal expenses. This unwanted expenditure can be curtailed/ eliminated markedly through the use of petroleum-based temporary rust and corrosion preventives.
Various protective measures like alloying, Planting, Painting, etc are used by the Engineering Industry to prevent metals from the effects of corrosion, while the measures indicated above are of a permanent/semi-permanent nature, petroleum based rust preventives find wide application for temporary corrosion protection during storage and transportation.
RUSTOL grades have been selectively formulated for various applications and offer the following advantages.
• These are non-staining.
• These are compatible with lubricating oils and hence the surface film need not be removed.
• These are easily applied by brush, spray or swab.
• These are easily removable by solvent.
• These are economical.

RUSTOL (OIL FILM TYPE)
RUSTOL 1285, RUSTOL 1286, RUSTOL 1287, RUSTOL S
These are lubricating oils containing soluble corrosion inhibitors, and are generally applied by dipping, spraying or circulating. These serve as lubricants as well as temporary protectives. These products are suitable for internal protection of gear boxes, back axle assemblies, oil and fuel pumps and lines, fuel and oil tanks, I.C.Engines etc. RUSTOL S is the most suitable grade for protection of Cold Rolled steel components. It has very good coverage and most suitable for application in humid and saline atmosphere. |

2. (GREASY-FILM TYPE)
RUSTOL 1387, RUSTOL 1388,
These products are soft, waxy solids at room temperature. They do not contain any solvent, but their base materials are oil with additives like wax, lanolin and petroleum sulphonates. The rust preventive is melted for application. These types are suitable for highly finished as well as normal machined surfaces.
The materials can be applied to many types of assemblies by hot dipping. They are equally suitable for piston assemblies, oil seals, transmissions and timing chains, single items such as milling cutter, plain bearing inserts and highly finished gauges etc.

3. (SOLVENT CUTBACK TYPE)
RUSTOL 101 DW, 102 DW, 104 DW & 150DW
These are soft film, solvent deposited, water-displacing type, and corrosion preventives. These fluids can be applied directly to water wet metal surfaces, where they displace water, leaving a protective film. All these fluids have excellent spreading and they can be applied either by dipping or by spraying. The protective films of all these grades can be removed by wiping off with rags/waste soaked in kerosene/ mineral turpentine or by alkaline degreasents or solvent degreasing method. RUSTOL 101 DW, 102 DW, 104 DW & 150 DW comply to IS: 1154 specifications
|
(a.) RUSTOL 101 DW: This grade is intended for severe conditions and leaves a greasy film. The film is resistant to handling and gives excellent protection. It can be used for protection during storage of valuable machine tools and as a final protective for tools and machined components in factory stores or shops
(b.) RUSTOL 102 DW: This grade offers a soft, tacky, oily film of good mechanical strength, which can withstand subsequent handling. The product has wide application for protection of components with high degree of finish, in machine, strips, etc. It has excellent resistance to spray and hence can be applied on components to be freighted by sea.
(c.) RUSTOL 104 DW: This grade is used for protection of components (viz. fasteners), which are to be subsequently wrapped in paper. It is also used as interoperational protective for removal of soluble oil emulsions. |
